Civil Engineering Department

Civil Engineering Department at Assiut University was established in 1957, as the first academic institution in this specialization in Upper Egypt and the fourth all over Egypt. The department has 80 faculty members, and 36 teaching assistants. The department offers 3 undergraduate programs; Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Construction Engineering and Project Management Program (Credit-Hour Program.) In addition to the undergraduate programs, the department offers 13 post-graduate programs in four disciplines. Civil Engineering Department as well as other departments in Faculty of Engineering at Assiut University were the first all over Egypt to be accredited from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education in 2011. The department has nine main laboratories that are supporting the educational process and scientific research, as well as providing technical consultations to the public community. The laboratories include:
 Concrete Testing Laboratory.
 Materials Testing Laboratory.
 Soil Mechanics and Foundations Laboratory.
 Steel Facilities Laboratory.
 Chemicals of Construction Materials Laboratory.
 Highway and Airport Engineering Laboratory.
 Surveying Laboratory.
 Water Facilities and Hydraulics Laboratory.
 Sanitary Engineering Laboratory.
